Chicken Leg Quarters With Broccoli And Carrots
For Leo, Chester and Pumpkin I’m cooking the same meal.
Broccoli are great for your dog, they contain Bioflavonoids which help fight inflammations, cancer and allergies. It has a lot of vitamin C and Vitamin K that improve bone strength and density and a lot of antioxidants.
Warning!
For this recipe you will need to blend the bones with the meat. Make sure you have a good blender
– 10Lbs or Chicken Legs Quarters (1 pack)
– 1 Lbs of Broccoli (Frozen or fresh ones)
– 1 Lbs of Carrots (Frozen or fresh ones)
Put legs quarters in a pan with the water and bake it at 365F for 1h45.
Then let it cool down in the oven. You don’t have to blend the veggies. In that case dice them into chewable piece for your dog and boil them.
I like to blend the chicken when it is still slightly warm as it is easier to grind. Let it cool off and then bend it. My blender can handle about 10 leg quarters but the previous one we were doing 3 at a time with about 1 cup of water or a bit more. You don’t want the paste to be too liquid. Blend it until you get a thick you get a paste.
Blend until you get a paste, then pour that in a container. If you decide to blend the veggies, add the broccolis and carrots with some of their broth (again you’re looking for a thick paste).
For my dogs the serving size for a day is 650gr. (sorry for the metric system). This serving is about 960 Calories and it would be 8 days worth of food. I always add 1/2TBSP of salmon oil (here) and some spice either cumin, ginger or turmeric and brewer’s yeast (here).
For these quantities, Salmon oil included that will bring the meal per day at about $2 for in between a 55 lbs very active dog or a 65 lbs active dog.
