Clicker Training

As I am using positive reinforcement to train my dog the clicker is an essential tool. This technique is based on the science of how animals learn, which shows that a dog or any animal, (I actually used that with horses and cats so far) is more likely to learn and repeat actions that result in rewards.

By clicking at the right time, you “mark” the moment your dog did what you wanted. So rather than having to guess what you liked, the click tells your dog precisely what they did correctly. For example, if you’re training your dog to pay attention to you, you would click as they look at you. You click and reward.

To make the clicker really efficient you have to first make the dog associate the clicker with a treat, you will load the clicker. As your dog is in front of you, you will click, give a treat, click give a treat. Do that for about 10 times and leave it. Do few sessions like this a day and within 2 or 3 days your dog will know that click means treat.
