Basic Canine Three-Part Combo (Doesn't require a Blender)
This recipe is courtesy of Dr. William Polak, DVM
Feed one cup by volume per day per 35 pounds of dog or 15 pounds of Puppy (5 to 24 Months)
Extremely active dog will require more.
Like I personally did with my dogs when I was starting a new diet, I would estimate an amount according to calories and weigh them every 3 to 4 days to see how their weight would evolve. I would adapt the quantities according to the needle direction on the scale.
Basic Canine Three-Part Combo Recipe

– 4 to 6 shredded slices whole grain natural bread; or cup whole grain cereal such as brown rice, oat-meal, buckwheat, wheat, quinoa, couscous
– 1 cup whole milk (raw and nonhomogenized) or 1 cup whole Yogurt
– 2 large eggs (it is optional to include the eggs’ shells, ground up and softened; bake shells in toaster oven until lightly browned to soften
– 1/4 cup string beans or other vegetable (carrots, broccoli, leafy greens, beets)
– 1 tablespoon vitamin/mineral powder (Diatomaceous Earth)
– 1 tablespoon olive or fish oil

– 1/4 teaspoon tamari, Braggs liquid amino acids, or a dash of iodized salt (optional)

You can find these grain/mineral/supplement here
For these quantities, that will bring the meal per day at about $1.70 (with 80/20 Ground beef) for in between a 55 lbs very active dog or a 65 lbs less active dog.
If you use 93/7 Ground beef that meal will be $2.10
